The Rest of the Story

I just noticed the picture of the Tower/Ratcon complex at Portage and thought I might give you a little background. I had the CNIB sign installed after a Friday night beercall where I was accosted by a group of pilots and it was inferred that at Air Traffic Controllers were blind. I also procured CNIB nametags that were mandatory for all Controllers at subsequent beercalls. A former acquaintance, Colonel Ralph Annis, CO of Moose Jaw, ran off the runway in a Tutor looking at the sign and trying to figure out what it was all about. You don't mess with Air Traffic Controllers. The sign was installed in the fall of 1969 and I can't believe it lasted that length of time.
